I have a real issue with vendors who charge extra – via a license with their “partner&# or otherwise for a web conferencing – and thus ability to offer webinars, in their solution. SlideLive - upload a ppt and away u go, targets Academia - SAAS. It should be free – 100%. WebHuddle - very slick.

The new iSpring Pro 7 – currently in beta adds additional powerhouse features, including PPT to HTML5 output (which right now is a standalone product). #8 While their Slideshark app for the iPad is nifty, it is not the only product that showcases PPT and is free. Yeah it is another PPT spin product but does stand out. #5

In this month’s issue, my tribute is to the 80′s a time where the Net wasn’t around, ILT was the dominant force, CBT was up and coming and WBT was just a dream. For some people WBT is merely sticking a PPT online converting it to Flash and whalla – a new course. Social and Mobile Learning Platforms.

More vendors showing off their products then in the past – still a couple believe that a poster board will do the trick. Wi-Fi worked a lot better, but vendors and end users still had issues inside the expo hall. Some vendors still required people to call to set up a trial, even though you were physically looking at them.

I am hearing from some vendors that they are having issues with Windows 8 and that Microsoft typically makes it difficult to really make it work. Articulate has told me that they have an issue with Windows 8 for both Storyline and Studio, but are working on fixing it. iSpring Pro but it only converts PPT to HTML5.

Maintenance and changes happen in less than a few hours – via Online, versus having a resource receive the update from the vendor and then make the changes on your own servers, which depending on their schedule could take anywhere from x to xx hours, especially if the update happens on a Saturday. E-Learning 24/7.
