I saw a lot more folks than in previous shows and more e-learning vendors too. Equally there were several ILT vendors who had some type of online learning thing going on. Yes, it has the video appearance of YouTube. Yes, you can use YouTube, but here is the sweet spot for me – deep learning.

I’m sorry but watching a video link, is not engaging social learning in my book. Yes, YouTube is a form of social media, but so is Pandora, and I’m unaware of any LMS vendor enabling Pandora in their system. But, the reason I constantly bash this into e-learning vendors heads is they just DON’T GET IT.

The vendors who offer it (and those who do – do not make it public – so if you want it – you have to ask) tend to charge per course sold. You set the price of the course, video, etc. As one vendor who has LRS told me, it is still a work in progress and they do not offer it to their customers. Security concerns.
