More of a surprise is that with the exception of 6 web conferencing vendors, who have apps specifically for the iPad/iPad2 market, you can count on one hand the number of LMS/LCMS vendors that offer the same thing. 62% Voice enabled. Dozens of LMS vendors, had typos on their web pages, zero screens of the system, links that went nowhere and two kicked up my Firewall warning of possible privacy collection and one had a Trojan Horse (I use a hardcore firewall and A/V). I believe that you can expect some type of voice capability with the actors/avatars as in the ability to either lip synch with the characters via audio tool/recording tool in the product will show up more in 2013. One vendor already offers it in 2012, and knowing this industry – if something takes off and works, others will follow.

SaaS product – but here’s the thing – if you want the course to be in your LMS – it can but it still sits on the ZZ server side and not in your system (should note that the LMS connectivity is available only in the $40/u version). If the presenter is using a telephone, 98% of systems will not pick up the recording of the audio from a phone. Most systems do not record the audio from attendees, even if they are using VOIP, but some do. Even in that case, again, some systems have an option that it is not recorded. Audio bridges. Avoid this like the plague.

With the exception of one vendor, voice discussion boards, but adding “video&# – which the vendor does not offer. Integration with Skype (again, one vendor does this), so you can make calls from within to other Skype end users who are within the system, text messages too. Why haven’t we seen.

After recording your voice or whatever it appears as one wavelength, which is standard for any recording – and not the problem I have with the product. I like Grovo as a product, but their pitch as the original micro-learning platform (read in one press release) is a twist on reality – great marketing, but really? This is because any vendor/platform/system could provide micro-learning since the start of the LMS space in the late 90’s.
