After unchecking “Hide selection rectangle for slide items in HTML5” in the publishing settings, you get a box, but is a very faint blue. and if your object is a rectangle with a dark border, you cannot determine if you are on that item or not. Even the highlights on the Captivate playbar are quite muted.
