The general sentiment around the room was that many workplace learning organizations were focused on nuts-and-bolts training, and that there was little innovation. Working out loud has been steadily gaining popularity and has become a topic of conversation on many forums including the Facebook community of the same name. The 9:00 am to 5:00 pm notion of work is all but vanishing, at least for the knowledge workers. The workforce is ubiquitously connected, networked, and mobile.

An organization that shares openly –successes and failures, learnings and insights, explicit and tacit knowledge – learns faster, builds an ambient awareness and paves the road for serendipity. It is an excellent method for bridging those very gaps and silos – the white spaces – between the defined boxes of the org chart.
