It’s important to find out why before you begin to even vet vendors. There may be engaging and interesting solutions that seem like they will bring your organization success—we call that “shiny toy syndrome” but it can also drive a change to your tech selection. Know the answer, and ask the vendor if they can accommodate those needs.

Per Host – My number #1 vendor goes this route, but they and a few others push ultimate options with a minimum number of hosts and I’m not even talking Enterprise yet. There a few vendors who offer a lot more, but nobody is doing like 30 or 40 extensions at this point. Extensions/Connections – You say new trend.

It was an exciting first day, with lots of vendors hitting the entire training spectrum. You can track number of times people open it, use it and even add folks to it. Here are my favorites: Numerous vendors were unhappy that they had to pay $700 a day for Wi-Fi, that didn’t work most of the time or was slow. Leapfactor.

No surprise that some vendors are also waiting to see what happens. M-Learning with a native app – slowly trucking along, but I am hearing quite a few vendors who are either in development or getting going in 2014. Screen capturing/recording with various audio/video tracks. Again, it is hot, hot, hot.

But while the difference is negligible for vendors, it is significant for buyers. Some are full-service systems by major providers with proven track records. Sports and people development share a fallacy — conflating short-term with long-term perspectives, or entertainment with development. Most fall somewhere in between.

Firstly he needs toys and clothes (or plugins and UI customization if you will). Clearly this is a difficult choice for some – many clients of LMS vendors are disgruntled Moodle customers who bit off more Moodle than they could chew and ended up spending thousands on a system they weren’t happy with.
