It is that time of year when everyone is coming out with there trends to watch in 2011, and with that I jump on the bandwagon. They are similar to what you see in your standard LMS, course content, learning paths, reporting – but it is not as robust (which is fine for some end users). No particular order. provider, etc.

What always stuns me are vendors who state they know what their learners want, but in reality have no clue, because they themselves do not see the technology and its usage among the masses. Text to Speech, Automatic Voice Recognition, Audio Social Learning. Go to any mobile device marketplace and enter TTS (Text to Speech).

iPod, mobile phones, YouTube, message boards, e-mail. Comes with a screen capture tool, spell checker (many RCATs do not), Slide audio recording & editing. Moving Forward in 2011. These should be considered standards for vendors in this space in 2011 or at least those who want a competitive edge. Supports HD h.264

These were not characters that rarely moved, rather you could position them all over the screen, place them in the background and even record audio as part of the output. However, previously they have changed their launch date from early Fall 2011, to Q2 2011 and now Dec. FT’s Aura product. Lucky for me, I did.

But, the reason I constantly bash this into e-learning vendors heads is this just DON’T GET IT. near the bottom e-readers and tablets. Fastest growing segments – tablets & e-readers. 35 tablets by the end of Q2 2011, on top of the 30+ already in the market. E-Learning 24/7.

Not that I expected it to do so, mind you, because I recognized late 2011 that it would be big. I should note that you cannot use any 3rd party vendor authoring tool to upload courses into these systems. Just as in any product nowadays, add video, audio, media files. Okay, not something but SOMETHING.
