I have been told that Articulate Studio 13 is targeting a launch anywhere from Q2 to Q3, but don’t be surprised if it gets pushed back into Q4.

A few vendors say “social learning” but it is often far from it. FT- Another product I liked in 2012 and still like in 2013. I’m always amazed at some of the names vendors come up with for authoring tools. Despite what Articulate might say the most used products within Studio are Presenter and Quizmaker.

Authoring Tool Market – What I am seeing

Because the industry as a whole is a lemming, I expect more vendors to come on board. HTML5 output. Right now I am doing a survey on authoring tools (more on this at the end of the post) and so far 100% of all respondents state that HTML5 output is required in an authoring tool. HTML5 templates. Not anymore.

I am still surprised on how vendors who are offering assessment only tools are staying in the game. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Flash output – still red hot. Flash isn’t going anywhere, except maybe the route of leaded gasoline.
