HTML5 output including a PPT converter to HTML5. Curatr’s product is one of the new hybrid authoring systems to hit the market. That said, I am seeing these hybrid platforms on the rise – in the authoring tool market. Work offline with their optional Studio Server – extra charge. SCORM 2004, AICC. #4

If I am an authoring tool vendor, I would explore what is happening in the authoring tool market, what my product looks like, how I can make it better for my target audience and what do I see or others I trust see the e-learning space is heading. . At least SCORM support – Plenty still support AICC. But I digress.

In 2010, the RCAT market continued its upswing and nothing indicates to me it will be changing anytime soon. Innovation abounded and the push to focus on the “PPT to Flash&# angle continued to shine. Also SCORM 1.2 & AICC. These winners incorporated features or capabilities that make them stand out in the RCAT market.

If your goal is just to post the course on a server and let people access it, just for the sake of learning and you don’t care about tracking of any sort – then no, you do not need any compliance standard. Yeah, you can upload word docs, PPT, etc. Why would I want a SaaS solution over hosted on my own servers product?

Should have been even more than were there – I always find it ironic that vendors who do not attend any shows, will use excuses such as – “can’t afford it”, “marketing limitations”, “not our target market – i.e. U.S.”, Oh, it is a SaaS only system, hosted on Amazon servers.
