Improved interactivity over Flash. Open Source not Proprietary like Flash. Uses 20% of computer resources compared to 40% for Flash – this makes a big difference when someone is trying to view anything, regardless of their internet connection (DSL, Cable, Modem, T1, etc.). Oh, e-readers – sure down the pipeline.

But, the reason I constantly bash this into e-learning vendors heads is this just DON’T GET IT. Plus the iPad. HTML5 will be available on every one of those tablets, plus they will offer Flash (notable exception the iPad). LMS vendors who are moving into the Talent Management Space.

Then in some circles it was the smartphones and the power of social learning with said smartphones. You could count on your hand the number of vendors even looking at it, and I’m not just talking LMSs/Learning Portals, but content authoring tools and other products. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Flash output – still red hot. One vendor focuses only on Blackberry (not just Playbook but their smartphone like product). Flash isn’t going anywhere, except maybe the route of leaded gasoline. Works on Mac.
