The dominating authoring tool by far, was Authorware. Think of today, and Articulate Storyline fan base. Authorware usage and fan base made Storyline supporters and usage look like a rock stage at a state fair. There are even fans today of Authorware, who if it was still around, would bounce right into it. Not so much.

What used to take six months, with storyboards, actual text to design (i.e. Sure, the storyboards were out. Celtix - Enables you to create storyboards and scripts. Articulate Storyline - Yes, an Articulate product in the running – and no the end of the world is not coming.

Because the industry as a whole is a lemming, I expect more vendors to come on board. In just the past month, I have seen quite a few vendors add this capability in their product – and for the most part they are all RCAT products. Well some vendors have more than 15 come with their product. HTML5 output. Not anymore.

Anyone who used Authorware can attest to that. Have they ever used a storyboard? – While many people no longer use storyboarding, it is still a nice skill set to have, and think of it as an added bonus. A thumbnail which vendors will use in their products as a form of a mini-preview is not a slide either.
