Elluminate has real-time captioning available (I’ve never seen anyone use this in a presentation before–very nicely done. Text-based files. Threaded discussions. Matthew (Blind).

I regularly present live (synchronous) webinars or web seminars, and other teaching sessions from my home office, or from a hotel room, and conceivably just about anywhere else there is connectivity to the internet. It's asynchronous, but can still be a highly effective way of sending quality content to distributed student groups.
