Previously when I discussed freeform and template-based rapid content authoring tools, I kept software simulation tools aside. I’d like to leave the discussion around EPSS and software simulations to the experts in the eLearning industry. However, such development would not be considered as rapid authoring.

Interactivity in Software Tutorials?

Whenever a comparison of eLearning authoring tools is published, Captivate still is considered to be the best tool for creation of software tutorials. Sorry for my cynical attitude, had many discussions with authors over that type of articles. Those are SWF-based but will be converted to MP4 when publishing to HTML5.

Move from Flash to HTML5 – and Still Keep Your Super Powers!

Last July, Adobe announced that Flash, the ubiquitous, super-powered website and elearning authoring tool will be phased out by the end of 2020. Popular web browsers have already discussed their plans to no longer support the Flash plugin. If Storyline or Captivate or similar top tier authoring tools, were used you’re in for some luck.

Adobe Captivate 2017 project size vs. Captivate 9 project size

I rebuilt the same project(same images and audio) in Captivate 9 and it saved as a third of the size that it was in Captivate 2017. I recently built a new project in Captivate 2017 and was having issues optimizing the size to play well in our LMS. example Cap.9 9 was 112 MB and Cap.
