Since the advent of e-learning, Macromedia products were popular, and enormous quantities of content were generated using platforms like Director and Flash. Director died alongside CD-ROMs, taking Shockwave with it, but Flash hung around. . Flash to HTML5. legacy tools/platforms (Authorware, Director, etc.)

They provided just enough to make us dangerous with HTML, Flash, Photoshop and Authorware. No, I do not use Authorware now, but it is hard to predict what will be an essential tool 10 years down the road. For me, I use Flash to develop games, but whether it is Flash or other game development tools get to know how to use them.

In response to the demand for more accessible authoring tools, Authorware was born. Using Authorware , learning professionals could create learning programs with hyper-simplistic designs, primarily through dragging and dropping icons. While powerful for their time, these tools were not easy to use, requiring complex programming skills.

Sure, you can use the extensive list of tools on the market, but for those who want real power and complexity ala from the days of Authorware, pickings are slim. It’s free. It’s free. It’s free. Professional Presenter X – comes with sim tool, assessment, capture tool, documents to flash tool, etc.

HTML5 output. Right now I am doing a survey on authoring tools (more on this at the end of the post) and so far 100% of all respondents state that HTML5 output is required in an authoring tool. I do believe that HTML5 output will continue to grow as an authoring tool feature. Audacity which is free – destroys it.

83% said Output to HTML5. The days of just PowerPoint to Flash and simplicity are no longer cutting it. I also found the HTML5 numbers to fully back what I have been saying for the past year. 95% – Output to HTML5. Here are the top five feature sets that are required. 83% said Layers, Actions and Triggers.
