RapideL-i (Brainvisa Technologies Pvt. I’ve been slicing and dicing our Authoring Tool KnowledgeBase and doing some online research in response to a question about collaborative rapid authoring tools that developers in multiple locations can use. Thought I’d share what I found for three reasons - (1) hopefully to provide some valuable information, (2) to see who I may have missed so I can add them and/or get them added to our KnowledgeBase (3) to let you know about the type of client-driven research we do at Brandon Hall Research.

Samir Inamdar is not a stranger to this industry, having first worked with Maximize Learning (subsequently aquired by Techbooks /Aptara) and then having joined Brainvisa (subsequently aquired by Indecomm Global Services) before moving on to start his own eLearning company by the name of Enthuse Technologies . According to a press release by the police, Inamdar had been dismissed from Brainvisa in 2006 and formed his own e-learning company subsequently. This is an incident that clearly shows how cut-throat and competitive the eLearning industry has become in India. As smaller

eLearning blogger Amit Kapur, through his blog , speculates that Pune, India based and Sequoia Capital funded , mid-sized eLearning player Brainvisa may be in the process of being acquired.
Please feel free to shed more light on the Brainvisa deal by writing in to us a If this is true, then we would see further consolidation of the industry in India. Maximize Learning, another Pune based player was recently snapped up by Aptara (erstwhile Techbooks).

Articulate Presenter, like Brainvisa's Rapidel Enhance builds on the user's knowledge of Microsoft Office, by integrating with MS Powerpoint as an Add-in. One of things I'd like to change in the future, would be to have more time to work on things that can lower the overall cost of training, while lending more flexibility to the way training can be delivered. My thoughts about this issue have led me to meander down the path of e-learning.

We found the three US vendors expensive and/or light on good ID and the India-based vendors (Tata and Brainvisa) are priced really well, but would require more extensive project, quality and ID management. Within a few hours of each other, I received two requests for referral to service providers. One request was for eLearning development providers from fairly large 5,000+ employees based in the US.
