If you want to track in a learning management system or learning platform that supports SCORM then you want it. If your goal is just to post the course on a server and let people access it, just for the sake of learning and you don’t care about tracking of any sort – then no, you do not need any compliance standard.

I’ve been on web conferencing calls on multiple platforms, and have had the wonderful experience of being dropped, having to download a plug-in that takes too long, hearing the double voice – echo chamber, freezing – on my end and the other end – and some general issues. .

If you have a Gmail account, you can sign up for free to use Google Voice. So, if you do not want to go the Skype route, you have your Gmail account open, the Voice add-on – instant dl and install; people can text you if they have Gmail or call you via Voice. It appears in the SAAS model with some small dog LMS vendors.

You record everything that is seen on the screen – including the presenter’s voice – which is achieved via VOIP (i.e. Does the recording stay on the vendor’s server and attendees access it? If it is on their server, what data do you get? What about the presenter’s voice – i.e. via VOIP?

I believe that you can expect some type of voice capability with the actors/avatars as in the ability to either lip synch with the characters via audio tool/recording tool in the product will show up more in 2013. One vendor already offers it in 2012, and knowing this industry – if something takes off and works, others will follow.
