I include Learning Portals, LCMSs, as part of the mix. Big Dog (Saba, SumTotal, Plateau, Cornerstone OnDemand, Learn.com). Learn.com offered some robust SL capabilities, but you have to pay for one of their premium versions to have it. The product is Flash based, which is nice, but lack of mobile optimization for the iPad.

There is a growing list of vendors, including small/mid size that are adding talent management components that match the Big Dog systems. A couple of vendors have added HRIS modules. It is interesting to note, that many of the vendors are targeting the SMB space, especially the small size (less than 500 employees) market.

Flash will still have an impact (at least in the area of mobile learning). Interestingly, it's Xyleme - an LCMS vendor that is sponsoring the site. Investment in mobile learning will significantly increase. Mobile learning sub-disciplines will begin to emerge. Here's what came up. I call it working smarter.
