Let’s face it – RFI/RFP documents sent over to learning system vendors are massive tomes that confuse, challenge and even baffle some vendors. Yeah, they are focused on essentials, again, forgetting this is a learning system and is for learning. And lizards as my co-players. They can be 25 pages.

That’s right, the annual, Customer Education Learning Systems Bracket. One key point here – a lot of vendors who are not in the bracket, will tell you, they provide customer education, or have clients using their system for customer education (aka as the legacy term extended enterprise). And it has to be free.

Some are truly the “score”, that will go forward in 2023, to I believe not just imitators, in one case, and I would be one who would follow suit, then there are “scores” which bounced off the crossbar or off another player and went in. In other words, they delivered, but they didn’t fully achieve. Missed chances.

As previously covered in other posts, the industry has splintered into audience-focused types if you will, as in systems whose focus is employees, customer education, or a combo – employees and customers. The majority of learning systems are combos, which usually skew towards the employee side – there are a few exceptions.

Regardless, the number of 100% true LXPs, as they were defined, is minimal in the entire industry of learning systems. The funny thing here is that there are all types of learning systems, including LMSs that have that same UI. The dominant player in each of those shows was an LMS, followed by a learning platform.
