It’s the only way to get multimedia on mobile devices. Simply speaking, HTML is the language that the Web is written in, and HTML5 is the most recent version of it. And just recently, Adobe announced that it is stopping development on the version of Flash Player that is used on all other mobile devices, as well.

So, what does this move mean to the enterprise mobile learning market? From my perspective, both companies have worked on "baking and serving up" a mobile learning strategy to one extent or another but both have placed a higher priority on building out their talent management suites rather than their mobility solutions.

I’ve expanded to using Toolbook and other software. Most commonly you’ll need software to publish to a SCORM compliant module, but which version of SCORM does your LMS use? How about mobile platforms, like the iPhone? So far my personal experience is limited to Toolbook and Articulate as authoring tools.

They were never inexpensive but come on – $2,299 for their rapid e-learning authoring suite – includes mobile (prices do drop if you purchase multiple but still 10-25 licenses runs at $1,954). Platte Canyon – Toolbook 11 (full version) $2,795 per license. Fear of the Mobile Bogeyman aka HTML5.

Similar to the one I had for an LMS, here is the Authoring Tool version for 2017. The buzz word “Mobile First” is already in play in the LMS world and now it is appearing more frequently in the authoring tool space, especially among SaaS vendors. The same with “Mobile Responsive”, which everyone does.
