Mzinga is the result of a merger between KnowledgePlanet and Shared Insights at the end of 2007. My more recent contact at Mzinga is Dave Wilkins. I spoke with Dave via email about what Mzinga is doing with social media. Q: What social media tools is Mzinga incorporating into their LMS?

Mzinga is clearly targeted at the learning space, being integrated with an LMS. Yet, for a learning group, Mzinga’s integration of formal and informal learning is also plausible. They indicated that there was a VIP room exclusively for big contributors where they could hobnob with the C-suite.

18 Mzinga Publisher - Holy macaroni! (No No reason, I just love saying that) Mzinga shows up with a true social learning authoring tool. 13 Madcap Suite. This suite is a monster of a solution. Yep, let’s take a quick dive at the suite. Easy to use interface and supports SCORM and AICC. #18 Not with Publisher.

A: Ben Willis- Saba has had social & collaborative capabilities in our product suite for a very long while (since 2004 and the 3.x x generation of our suite; we are now moving into the 6.x x generation of the suite). 14 Mzinga Publisher. I’d say that this is one product that is better suited for instructional designers/e-learning developers who loved Dazzler Max (late 90′s, early 2000′s product) or like the ability to do some customized actions, scripts and programming. . Will it replicate those craving for an Authorware return?

GUI follows suit. LMS vendors that created their own LRS. Many vendors have gone this route. As a result, the quality is all over the place. Some are strong, others are not. Data visualization is useful but to a degree. Data visualization is doable, but nothing to write home or email folks about. Another alternative out there. It is there.
