These were not characters that rarely moved, rather you could position them all over the screen, place them in the background and even record audio as part of the output. Simply put, one vendor has over 200 Flash-based templates in their product. Another vendor I spoke with, is offering 80 templates. Lucky for me, I did.

Studio has always been known for the PowerPoint to Flash approach, but it also includes audio narration, TOC (yeah!) I wasn’t paying attention and it started to record a blank screen of another audio product I was using. Flash – since my goal was to have the course visible on an iPad, I did not select this feature.

I believe that you can expect some type of voice capability with the actors/avatars as in the ability to either lip synch with the characters via audio tool/recording tool in the product will show up more in 2013. One vendor already offers it in 2012, and knowing this industry – if something takes off and works, others will follow.

Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Flash output – still red hot. Flash isn’t going anywhere, except maybe the route of leaded gasoline. Screen capture, audio editing. Vendor adoption is slow. Here is a news flash: It’s not true.

Problems with recording audio. Video goes in and out with the audio – They explain it has to do with the latest version of Flash, but how about coming up with an alternative. Record Live Audio/Video. I found the record live audio and video (which is occurs when you select “video”) to be a disappointment.

It offers the ability to create courses in HTML5 or Flash. So, you can still have audio/video in HTML5, just as you can with Flash. What is nice, is that 99% of the tablets in the market today, and the majority coming out into the market this coming year, will accept both Flash and HTML5.
