Sure there are vendors who do an exceptional job, but the fact still remains that the number one reason, people leave one learning system vendor for another is support/service. I talk to vendors all the time, who say publicly they have great support, but privately acknowledge it is either poor or below average.

My issue is important and your tech people have not responded. As someone who has had the wonderful experience of buying (leasing) a LMS and the issues that arose beyond that, I can tell you that I feel your pain. Company receives issue via e-mail, support center or phone – or any combination. Your support stinks.

As soon as I asked that question, I heard all of the bellyaching from our Flash developers and most of the custom e-learning vendors we hired. We push the productivity increases, sales increases, safety issue decreases, happy employees and retention as proof that Training or L&D is successful and thus here is the proof with ROI. Heck, you could be an e-learning company who provides online learning to your customers. .

When it comes to the e-learning market, specifically the LMS space (and you can toss in LCMS, CMS, Learning Portals as well), there are a lot of traps that customers fall into and can’t get out. The vendor’s salesperson tells you want you want to hear. E-mail within 24 hours or less.

I am hearing from some vendors that they are having issues with Windows 8 and that Microsoft typically makes it difficult to really make it work. Articulate has told me that they have an issue with Windows 8 for both Storyline and Studio, but are working on fixing it. E-Learning Vendors and Apps.
