For some vendors the words are just words, not actually making it happen, and when they do, many charge for the privilege of you contacting them. I’m sorry, if I am spending thousands of dollars on a system, I expect customer service – at least the first year to be free. . Yet, many vendors are doing exactly that.

I have seen continued interest and downloads for open source AR tool kits. In the past year: Apple has filed a patent for 3D Kinect experience using touch free gesturing. Another Apple patent includes allowing users via touch free gesturing to move content from one device to another (example from your iPad to your television).

Equally of interest, are the increase in open source systems that offer for a fee, hosting on their own servers, rather than on yours. I still believe this will be a winner in 2012, and that more vendors will jump into this space. Open Source Systems. Prediction. Huge explosion in SaaS based only systems.

Web sites yes. When you need a fix, then the LMS vendor must work with you either remote to solve it or if it is big nasty fix, go on site. Even one time open source systems are starting to offer hosting for an additional cost. It is a way to counter free open source systems.

Authoring tool salesperson or site makes it look so easy to create this interactive course, but unless you have an ID skill set and with tech skills, it won’t happen. E-Learning vendors offer training or tell you they have robust training, you find out it is PDF guides with an accompanying video. It’s not.

Lots of royalty free stock photo options here – you still have to buy the license mind you, but you can find truly “free” without giving credit to anyone and add it. Many companies ban access to social media sites, especially Facebook. People like free. Will it attain mass adoption – I doubt it.

If I have those skill sets, why would I want to be an administrator of a LMS, when I could work free-lance or in some other programming capacity?
