We decided to mute, similar to what we would do with a big group in a web conferencing tool like WebEx or Elluminate. Read their article on connecting students across multiple locations and TelePresence training materials (including teaching best practices) for more info. Should we mute ourselves when we’re not presenting?

We teach not to create little living libraries on the subject, but practitioners. Tried to show video of Meet Charlotte, but video doesn’t work well over Elluminate. Flat Classroom Project : comes from the idea that we have an ethical responsibility to teach people about different cultures, but it’s hard to do that if students aren’t actually interacting with people from other cultures. Connect = Elluminate. Communicate = Ning. Collaborate = Wiki. Create = Video.
