Grovo, an education technology company that was founded in 2010 and focuses on microlearning applications through its technology, professional services and content library, hired its first chief learning officer, Summer Salomonsen. Salmonsen plans to expand Grovo’s microlearning library with over 1,000 new lessons over the next year.

Vendors like BizLibrary , Grovo and Skillsoft provide an LMS that includes prepackaged content and the ability to support proprietary content. Content aggregators such as OpenSesame , Udemy , knoitall , Coursera , Lynda , Degreed and EdX are creating libraries of the world’s best content from private, public and university sources.

Cornerstone OnDemand acquired Grovo. Distinctive features include Netflix-style image-based course libraries, with titles grouped by topic, new releases and custom collections. They also want branded portals to “house” this content, and some want segmented content libraries based on various licenses or products they resell.

Who says that the learner has to pick to select or buy the content in a course library only? Bolt-on – Popular ones are Pathgather, Grovo and Degreed. Tagged: clo , e-learning , Immersive Learning , LMS. Build it, buy it, or grab it (if free) and place within. Assign points for just picking courses – gamified.

Like any content library from a 3rd party, some of it is good, some is poor, and Lynda.com is no different. Tagged: LMS , NexGen LMS , next generation learning management system. Really like the system and see its potential, but seriously, they need some NexGen push. Saying it is one thing, delivering it is another. Linkedin Learning.

Some of are solid (like Biz Library, who will also sell you the LMS separately, albeit overwhelmingly their customer base are courses first, LMS tossed in second). One recent vendor to go this route is Grovo. . E-Learning 24/7 Tagged: courseware , courseware LMS , LMS , online learning courses. Enterprise companies and SMB).
