Im not sure if the SME was reading a script, reading the notes, or just speaking from the heart. My argument is that if the information is presented as 'real' conversation it is more believable, more engaging and ultimately more effective. What we lose in video quality we gain in authenticity. So thats one version.

The quality of those courses? I did informal needs analysis on a daily basis, I wrote measurable objectives and built level 2 evaluations and authentic assessment items. Im with you all. I never took a test that said I was actually an instructional designer. So at what point does one "become" an instructional designer?

wait, Im getting verbose. Another important trick is to push the client to identify what information the learner really, really needs to know *in their head at all times* and what can be punted to a job aid to be referred to as necessary. Cathy Moore urges us to chop the basic fluff out of the course. Stick to the meat.
