Often I have two small kids in tow or Im trying to check ten things off a list during my lunch hour. I rely on my feed reader to get me the information I need and want. A good aggregator (like Stephen Downes) will get me the info I need so Im not missing the really juicy stuff. Im sure many of you are the same.

When you dont meet someone in person, you still paint a picture of them in your mind. I had to keep staring at each of them hard as I replaced my old pictures. The bonus of so many of the social media tools we use is that our pictures are attached. The universe has shifted slightly as Ive adjusted my images. Unexpected beards.

I can see how theorists might argue that reading text aloud to the learner addresses multiple "learning styles," but the real-world experience is one of frustration: you want to read ahead but you cant because the narrator reads more slowly than you do. Im with you. But I just thought that was my learning style. Youre right.

And by asking this, Im not suggesting that design isnt important, for it is - its seen by some as part of the pedagogy. Some claiming to be IDs have no idea how to present information, how to logically order the presentation, or how to write.

Files can be password protected Discussion Boards In August, Gin Premiere is launching with new features, including instant messaging, a "whos online" feature, skinning features, and the ability to upload pictures with your profile. It seems to me that FaceBook is a great networking tool.

"Emerging" = kinds of e-learning that are just starting to show up -- in labs, new company offerings. In the 90s there were one or two ways to do e-Learning: CDRoms and then the web. Pages and pictures and some sound and we turned the pages and took a test. This was "e-Learning 1.0". A big explosion in the last 2 years.

Perhaps this is a small rebellion of the textual hegemony of my grad school days.history doesnt allow for a lot of pretty pictures. Prior knowledge = context Do visuals improve learning? Multimedia principle (Mayer) says that word+pictures is almostalways better than words alone. I have a lot of issues with the whole "seat time" model (and Im thinking about sit and click style eLearning here of the self-paced variety): My seat time may be different than yours Is there supplemental material, like reading, that is optional -- or that might vary per user? Another side of the picture is overall time versus chunking.
