Let’s face it – RFI/RFP documents sent over to learning system vendors are massive tomes that confuse, challenge and even baffle some vendors. Then you have RFP/RFIs that lack substance. The fact of the matter is nobody loves creating RFP/RFIs. They can be 25 pages. 50 pages, even 100 pages or more.

I can’t forget the joke of micro-learning platforms, ignoring that micro-learning has been around since 2000, every type of learning system can do this because it is based solely on how you or whomever creates the courses/content. Here is the kicker though – they learner doesn’t care. That to me, is quite clear.

You can barely read the information – no worry, it is data visualization if your idea of data visualization is 2000 or Excel 1996. I always look at the navigation and ease of use not only for learners (top priority) but also my administrator(s). Buy into the hype that if the system is poor, then your learners will complain. Meet my friend, the RFP. If you are going to use an RFP, I recommend using the one I created for each and everyone.

Hate is a strong word, and many consumers (clients) rarely say it out loud, but if your system isn’t doing what you were promised and the calls from your learners are coming in OR worse they aren’t using it because of these issues – you are mad.
