Many people don’t consider PowerPoint as a capable graphics editor since its main function is to create presentation aids. Perhaps this is because older versions of PowerPoint (2003 or below) didn’t have as many graphic editing options as never versions (2007 or higher). Basic effects (such as drop shadow and soft edges).

For my demos, I decided to stick with PowerPoint to show that if that’s all you have, then you still can do quite a bit. PowerPoint 2010 comes with a background removal feature which makes it really easy. Older versions of PowerPoint have a simple feature that lets you make a single color transparent.
