Be Wary of Authoring Tool Comparisons

Adobe Captivate

This authoring tool was Toolbook, and I believe it was version 9. Based on that, you might think that I would be qualified to at least offer my opinion with a comparison between Toolbook and Captivate, but I feel differently. I’ve not actively used Toolbook in many years.

The nice thing is that the tools from Articulate and Adobe have really matured to the point where you can do a lot quickly and without too many problems. It was terrible! It was a major step back.

Authoring Tool Trends for 2017

The world of authoring tools started at the advanced level, Authorware, Toolbook and to an extent DazzlerMax. Then Articulate Studio appeared. Make sure everything is active. You either needed a tech skill set (at least moderate) or authoring tool design/development experience and preferably both. They all had a learning curve.
