Starting a conversation about learning analytics

Learning Journal

By Stacey Harris and David Grebow, Brandon Hall Group. Edited by Elliott Masie.  This is the fourth in my series of posts sharing the reading list from my summer emerging technologies course. So far, I’ve posted the overview , social media readings , and MOOC readings - and up this time is BIG DATA. The conversation online focused quite a bit on privacy issues, and students were surprised about how much data is already collected and how it is being used. Enjoy these links, and feel free to share additional ones if you have recommendations. Introduction. Required.

Role and Voice of Community Leaders - Your Input Needed

Tony Karrer

Certainly, if you look at the eLearningGuild, Masie, ASTD, VNU, Brandon Hall, etc., Based on the post He Had a Bad Day , Mark Oehlert , Heidi Fisk and I have had an email conversation that raises an interesting broader questions around the role, voice and communication norms of people who are the leaders / organizers of groups like the eLearningGuild. Should they try to stay behind the scenes and put members out in front? Should they have a strong voice and opinion that champions approaches or direction for the members? Do they need to remain neutral?

Brandon Hall research site – needs no introduction. Learning TRENDS by Elliott Masie eLearning Technology , Tony Karrer’s blog. Directory Blogging I discovered SlideShare and liked it very much. It is the slideshow version of YouTube. Currently takes PPT, PPS, PDF and OpenOffice files only. Slideshare allows you to embed presentations on your site just like YouTube. Figured that the site is already about a year old. Will this be the next YouTube or Facebook? Time will tell but I would put some money on it.
