Act 2 – Select only a vendor who is well known (name recognized). What it does mean, is that the vendor is strong in marketing and getting their name out to the general public. This idea that unless you have heard of them, they are not a good product or rather they are a lesser product just isn’t true. it is good.

This isn’t the same as a user case study you see on vendors websites (which btw are nothing more than marketing materials wrapped up in a “research” like angle. What is the roadmap of the vendor and track record of meeting the new functionality/capability? Same thing with white papers. Wonderful marketing materials.

Lots of vendor booths. One vendor told me it was 296, another said, 260. I did see one vendor who bought a booth and never showed up (G-Cube). Vendors who were in certain sections (I counted Seven sections), seemed to have more humans than say others. Regardless, there were a lot.

That said, there were some hiccups and from an entire vendor wise (expo here) angle, some unique and some, uh. This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . I see way too many vendors think a web site is all they need and people will find them.

I have some ideas on why the U.K. LMS vendors had the option to create a video demo of their product without any sales pitch whatsoever. At last count, 25 vendors created such videos. 42 LMS Profiles – I know, you are saying wait he said 50 vendors but only 42 profiles. Cornerstone OnDemand.
