Surprises so Far in 2023

Surprises in E-Learning One of the biggest surprises, is that so many folks are unaware that e-learning was an umbrella term, as I noted in the History of the LMS post. Vendors use it to refer to online courses/content. On top of that, they misspell it – the term is e-learning. Shame on them.

Authoring Tools- The DevLearn Experience

Last week, I attended DevLearn. I knew that its core audience would be instructional designers and e-learning developers. . From products that ranged from the latest versions of RCATs to new vendors in the space, including text to speech. . Simply put, one vendor has over 200 Flash-based templates in their product.

Since, I walk around and look at the vendor booths, etc. DevLearn – Las Vegas – Good show, and IMO, this year’s was the best one yet. World of Learning Conference – Birmingham, UK – Lots of potential here. Well organized – a must show for e-learning vendors in 2015.

Vendors are assessing as well. The show is solely focused on e-learning and the vendors come from all over the world. On the vendor side, nice set to select from although on the freebie side – always is lame. Vendor Angle. A must for any e-learning vendor. Vendor Angle.

The second segment is for vendors – including insight from fellow vendors on various trade shows. Observe who is on the path from the door right down the middle – these are often the vendors who paid the most money, especially at the entry points along each pathway, except for the farthest right and left.

Fears of the Course Authoring Tool Market

Long has tools such as Studio and Captivate been on the higher side, the same can be said for vendors such as Rapid Intake and dominKnow. Because other vendors are getting into the act as well. What is an equal frightening event is when authoring tool vendors do not even list their pricing on their page. So why the fear?
