Im a linear reader in recovery and have been actively learning how to skim books and not feel guilty about it. Lots of practical ideas and examples for turning basic teaching points into learning games -- from casual games to teach facts and concepts, to detailed simulations that teach procedures and problem solving. The ones who may not are those who identify themselves as “Training mgt systems and alike” – because they are really focused on the course authoring tool and are not a LMS in the true sense of the word. Congrats, you are probably looking at less than 10 (based on my LMS directory which contains 475 vendors).

Bookmark feature is interesting, but with this one item – Saba’s past UI issues appear – too bad, it has an spin on the bookmark concept.epub file upload that worked, which is rarely seen in any file acceptance of other social learning systems and even the majority of e-learning solutions to begin with.

Im still working on that but maybe next week while I am at I/ITSEC, Ill wander the expo floor and ask some of the e-learning vendors what their plans are to help their clients move toward an Enterprise 2.0 stance with regard to their systems and developments such as OpenSocial and UWA. So what right?

Certainly with the rise of rapid e-Learning tools and the increase in SME-published content well start to see an increase in the frequency of updates to e-Learning material. As an e-Learning vendor, I think its our responsibility to make sure that our clients have thought this through.

I am still surprised on how vendors who are offering assessment only tools are staying in the game. Perhaps they are unaware of online authoring systems offering assessment features. The latter is slowly gaining speed, which is an advantage to LMS vendors who have a CAT in their own product – which is SCORM,PENS/IMS compliant.
