Because comparing agile software development to instructional design is the wrong comparison. They work together well but agile is never a framework and therefore it’s wrong to call it agile instructional design. Need to be more agile & change. ADDIE is content centric. No fixed alternative to ADDIE b/c depends on ecosystem/learnscape. Clark says ADDIE is a process, there will be a role for it (I think–I may be misrepresenting what he said). Jay: We need to think about ourselves as business problem solvers.

Although I have several of Michael Allen’s books, I haven’t read Leaving ADDIE for SAM yet. Several people recommended that (including some who said they wished their organizations would pay more attention to it and move to a more agile approach). Performance Consulting. There’s the agile crowd who wants to jump right in, then there are those who think ADDIE can’t be iterative (it can). ADDIE may be an old instructional design model, but it isn’t outdated. If you’re an instructional designer thinking of using an alternative model or think ADDIE is dated, think again.
