I love going to LMS sites and seeing a list of clients that the vendor lists. Especially the LMS vendors who also create custom content/development. If the demo is face to face, write down or record (ask the vendor ahead of time if this is okay) audio of their presentation. E-Learning 24/7.

Q : I am curious on why Cornerstone On Demand, Saba and SumTotal do not appear in your top twenty lists even though they appear on other sites as the best products in the market. Every e-learning consulting/research firm, etc. I have done a segment like this in the past and it was very popular. Am I missing something?

It can be embed into your web site, added to your LMS, but to me the real awesomeness is the ability to add into any authoring tool. Can add your own audio or use one of their audio tracks – which surprisingly were not bad, actually quite a few were good. Thousands of characters to choose from, including backgrounds.

One vendor asked if you wanted to learn more about their product and sent you to their help desk to notify them of errors or issues with their system (hmm, not likely to buy one from these guys). Over 90% of LMS vendors had their sites available only in English; so the potential customer could not view it in any other language.

Read, share, print or send to mobile devices: ebooks, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations/slides, documents, images, audio/video – user generated. Expand it, so that e-books, documents, audio files can be viewed on e-book readers, if it is ePub (the most used format, and recognized with every e-reader, sans Kindle) it will work.

Problems with recording audio. Video goes in and out with the audio – They explain it has to do with the latest version of Flash, but how about coming up with an alternative. Record Live Audio/Video. I found the record live audio and video (which is occurs when you select “video”) to be a disappointment.

After clicking to view the tutorial, you go to the Articulate community web site and often it takes you to the top of the page, so you have to scroll down to see the tutorial. There is actually a vendor who has a mobile app available on iTunes, Upside Learning. Sure, it is for their specific mobile learning platform (and I’m glad they do it), but they have one. These were not characters that rarely moved, rather you could position them all over the screen, place them in the background and even record audio as part of the output. Screen capture, audio editing. Vendor adoption is slow. Many companies ban access to social media sites, especially Facebook. Heck, they are lucky if they have audio cards connected to their computers or even are using Windows 2007. . Vendors who start offering this now in SaaS based products are ahead of the game.
