It comes from me talking to vendors, buyers, monitoring the industry all the while taking notes and seeing the trends/patterns appear right before my eyes. Web site stinks = product stinks. What has always amazed me are number of e-learning vendor web sites whose design looks like it came from 1995 when Netscape ruled the land.

Mobile Learning. LMSs – Finally vendors took notice. Sadly though many still are in the dark on true mobile learning – i.e. not accessing their platform via a mobile web browser. Authoring Tools – With only a small sample of vendors that are SaaS based, pickings are slim. A win in my book.

My latest take on those three vendors (plus one) are: Cornerstone On Demand – I have seen the new UI and I like what I saw. Q: We use WebEx as our web conferencing tool. The problem with the web conferencing tools that currently exist (as a whole) is that none of them are 100% perfect. Lots of potential.

That some vendors who provide a list of clients may not be clients of their LMS, rather they are current or past clients of custom course development. But did you know.

Typically with licenses - a lot of vendors do not enable you to have the multiple rooms at the same time – i.e. the multiple seminars going on at the same time offer. You buy one.

I believe that you can expect some type of voice capability with the actors/avatars as in the ability to either lip synch with the characters via audio tool/recording tool in the product will show up more in 2013. It can be embed into your web site, added to your LMS, but to me the real awesomeness is the ability to add into any authoring tool. Can add your own audio or use one of their audio tracks – which surprisingly were not bad, actually quite a few were good. Can synch audio with the character’s lips – I love it!

These were not characters that rarely moved, rather you could position them all over the screen, place them in the background and even record audio as part of the output.
