Video Learning Platforms will accept video from any mobile device with a camera, and DV/HD cameras. . Another is Biz Library. They can be true standalone video courses. Big difference.

It can be embed into your web site, added to your LMS, but to me the real awesomeness is the ability to add into any authoring tool. Can add your own audio or use one of their audio tracks – which surprisingly were not bad, actually quite a few were good. Thousands of characters to choose from, including backgrounds.

I believe that you can expect some type of voice capability with the actors/avatars as in the ability to either lip synch with the characters via audio tool/recording tool in the product will show up more in 2013. One vendor already offers it in 2012, and knowing this industry – if something takes off and works, others will follow.

Interestingly, a large portion of LMS vendors have not optimized their products for the iPad/ iPad2 and with the exception of two content authoring tools, HTML5 capabilities, specifically the ability to output a course in HTML5 does not yet exist. I know of one vendor who gives end users the flash files after building the course.

My personal favorite feature is the timeline with individual tracks for audio, images and text. Studio has always been known for the PowerPoint to Flash approach, but it also includes audio narration, TOC (yeah!) Easy to use interface and supports SCORM and AICC. #18 18 Mzinga Publisher - Holy macaroni! Move it around, cut and paste.

As for personal and professional development, it truly amazes me how many vendors in the e-learning space as a whole, forget this type of training. The courses were 100% online, SCORM compliant, with video, audio – including recording your voice and comparing to the speaker. Audio/video/image editing – 51.4%.
