How many of you have seen vendors respond to your questions? A: Virtually every LMS vendor out there in the marketplace provides these features. Congrats, you are probably looking at less than 10 (based on my LMS directory which contains 475 vendors). Custom domains – rather than have yourcompany.vendorname.com, some systems are now offering custom domains so that your learners see whatever name you create.com and remove the vendor name.

Talk to anyone who has a multi-tenant (multi-portal) platform and immediately they will pitch that they are ideal for any markets including the B2B. What they fail to miss immediately, is just having a multi-tenant platform/aka parent/child/child aka portal/sub-portal aka PAAS (Platform as a Services) with multiple instances, is just a piece of the whole pie. should be free – and the vendor should not do the infamous, you get one free (child) then pay extra per child.

A big expo with several LMS vendors along with a few HR focused vendors who had a “learning component” to their systems. Maybe it was called Talent Portal, I can’t remember – it was a long week. Yet for the vast majority of vendors in the LMS space, this is not the case. Cornerstone OnDemand. However, in the end, Cornerstone dropped the ball. It is over.

Act 2 – Select only a vendor who is well known (name recognized). What it does mean, is that the vendor is strong in marketing and getting their name out to the general public. Trust me when I say this, someone out there was the first to use Cornerstone OnDemand. If your LMS vendor does not offer it and you want it, go API. If you don’t have it as a vendor, you should.
