Training & Customer Support. Additional cost for Training/Support – package based (Common in the industry, but enough already).

Geolearning. When GeoLearning changed to Express, I was fortunate to stay with the more advanced one – and still received updates. Today, very few vendors offer this depth. Eliminate redundancy and write it as you would if you were providing training to your employees or customers or both. Remember Bookstore.

CBT (Computer-Based Training). ILT (Instructor Led Training – Workplace, even EdTech – K-12 and Higher Education). WBT (Web-Based Training). CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT.

Oh, and not the first vendor I’ve seen this route, but that was more than a decade ago. Kirkpatrick is something that many of us, Training included, and definitely L&D are told is the way, the only way for learning. There are vendors who pitch they have it, and there are folks who oversee L&D who still believe in it.

Anyone who has ever provided training at a company or place, where the employees do not fully buy into it, has experienced it first hand. It was clear that not even LXP vendors (as a whole) knew – which explained why they targeted L&D, ignoring the other monster in the room, training. Was it though really so different?

In my upcoming NexGen Leader Pack (coming in late July), the majority are LMS vendors. I think as systems evolve with Gen-AI and the LLM, tailored can get even better – but we are still so very early; any vendor that says “100% we do it,” there are always, “What about this?” LMS vendor.

At that time, interest in training customers, channel partners and others “outside the firewall” was on the rise, but many organizations either could not or would not use their internal employee-focused LMS to support external learning programs. In contrast, employees are forced to participate in training for compliance purposes.
