I have previously written about some good, free stock image resources. In response to that article, a reader asked me if the images on these sites were royalty free and could be used in courses that he planned to sell. Sometimes you can use the images, but only if you credit the original artist.

There are a lot of “free” sites, but to tell you the truth most of them are useless. Like always, be sure to check the license and attribution requirements which can change. You can search the Internet for other sites, but for my money, either one of those two above are more than what you’ll need.

Going to a stock image site and looking for just the right pictures can be very time-consuming and a drain on your limited resources. Why not create your own stock images? A lot of images appear grainy because there’s not enough light. Keep the image in focus. Divide your image in thirds.

If you do get a budget then you can stretch your money by purchasing the lower resolution images. You don’t need print-quality images for elearning courses. I usually get my images from Fotolio or iStockphoto but there are dozens of good stock image sites. They also have some free stuff on their site.

You can buy stock images of these, but it’s easy enough to create them in PowerPoint. Fonts of interest : here are a couple of fonts that you can download for free from other sites. Be sure to check the license restrictions before using. Many of the rapid elearning courses I see use whiteboards or chalkboards.
