Vendors who have partnerships with WebEx or whomever they use, typically require you to purchase a license, which is separate from the system. Many will offer or have the ability to purchase the license for you, rather than you having to go to the vendor themselves and purchase it. What features are included with it?

I want to stress that I selected these vendors as up and coming, not based on any revenue cycle nor any compensation from them. I AM NOT RECEIVING ANY COMPENSATION FROM THESE VENDORS. Pricing – as provided to me by the vendors (as of 3-30-2010). Hosted: Maintenance and support, either license, $1,850/year.

The LMS/LCMS/Learning Portal market continues to be strong. In my latest directory, 393 LMS vendors – global, of which 34 or so are open source systems. In a market this size, and with so many vendors overly focused on the U.S. Acquiring another LMS or e-learning vendor. It was a myth.

ILinc – which yes, comes with their solution (integrated in fact), but if you want to use it, you have to purchase an additional license. The vendor pitches it as a “partnership&# , which really means, “a split revenue opp&# , for them and the web conferencing vendor. E-Learning 24/7. I hate it.

Integration with WebEx (separate license required). One of the biggest challenges and common problem in the LMS/LCMS space is navigation and ease of use issues when it comes to the what the learner sees. It is truly amazing on how vendors seem to think lots of stuff on the page, is the way to go and navigation is just a requirement.

I am still surprised on how vendors who are offering assessment only tools are staying in the game. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Over 98% of the LMS/LCMS/learning platform have at least one compliance standard, so why use a RCAT that doesn’t?
