I’ll be the first to admit, that I was not a big fan of the previous versions of the Plateau system. After viewing the Plateau TMS, my concerns in one area have been eliminated, in others, not so much. Plateau LMS is a Talent Management System, made up of four modules. Plateau Learning. CMSs, learning portals geared only are not on the list. Some systems call themselves talent management, performance management etc. – This is a trend, which I will cover on Tuesday, 13th of July. The market continues to grow it is nearly impossible to see every vendor’s latest solution. Vendors Reviewed.

SumTotal is calling their product a Human Capital Management system. I must have been sleeping, but when did “learning” slide under Talent Management? When did “learning, which is training” become a defacto component of Talent Management? And now a brief announcement: Shocking news!

I include Learning Portals, LCMSs, as part of the mix. Big Dog (Saba, SumTotal, Plateau, Cornerstone OnDemand, Learn.com). Extended Enterprise – System must have e-comm, multi-tenet – fully skinnable, additional functionality. Social Learning Management System of the Year. These standout to me.

CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. CBT was the “new” and exciting way to learn. The LCMS Learning Content Management System. WBT (Web-Based Training).

Compliance management, certification management. surveys/assessments, e-commerce, transcripts, ad-hoc reporting and the other standards in the industry (90/10). Their product is more geared towards a human capital management system, especially with the BizX Suite. Back in the days, the Plateau platform was ghastly awful.

Well, a lot has been happening in the past three months, from SaaS driven to talent management to course authoring to name changes and everything in between. Without further adieu, Talent Management/Performance Management (TM/PM). A couple of vendors have added HRIS modules. Plateau is now called SuccessFactors.
