While I am sure that occurred at WOLC, the ones I gazed at, which were presented by vendors, had no sales pitch whatsoever, rather it was all about a specific subject tied to e-learning. I know a few vendors who had multiple meetings each day with potential clients – and the ones I am referring to where LMS vendors.

Mini Takeaways on several products. Trends at the show – vendor wise, some real surprises, some not. . As I hit the floor, I saw only a couple of vendors. . There were vendors on the video angle, but again it was not a “hot scene” vendor wise. Roll the tape on the buzz.

Sometimes it is a result of the vendor, other times it is a failure of due diligence on the part of the soon to be customer. The vendor’s salesperson tells you want you want to hear. I expect nothing less from the vendor. At one time, vendors were honest, stating “white papers&# as marketing materials.

One Note: Open source systems in general are not “turnkey”, which means you have to do some customization to the platform – either heavy customization, adding plugins and so forth. Another of the early free open source systems that were available on the market, eons ago (okay not that long ago).
