In most cases, I will ask for a show of hands: How many of you have a LinkedIn Account? How many of you actively use LinkedIn? How many of you get really high value from LinkedIn? Now down to 2-5% I am continually surprised by this result ( Getting Value from LinkedIn ). can't remember how I could get things done without LinkedIn. And I consider knowing how to effectively use LinkedIn to be a core Work Literacy. | LEARN AND LEAD JULY 24, 2009 Why an Updated LinkedIn Profile is Important I recently discovered how I can effectively use LinkedIn to find potential candidates for recruitment. Unfortunately, a few of the people who responded did not have an updated LinkedIn profile. recommend that you update your LinkedIn profile with details of what you did in each job you held. Consider LinkedIn profile your updated and most recent résumé, even if you are not actively looking for a job. If you want to connect with me on LinkedIn, simply add me to your network. Okay, I know this isn’t really new but hey, it’s new for me. Lost opportunity! | | | | | | | TONY KARRER OCTOBER 30, 2008 LinkedIn Connection Approach Rethought If you read my blog much, you know that I use LinkedIn quite a bit to help me find experts and expertise. You can see how I do this in my posts/screencasts LinkedIn Searching for Experts and Expertise and LinkedIn Answers to Get Help. And, I sometimes wonder what I did before I had LinkedIn as a resource. An individual's social network (online or offline) is divided into three groups: PANs = Potentially Active Network CANs = Currently Active Network FANs = Formerly Active Network I used to think of LinkedIn as containing exactly my CAN and FAN. | MINDFLASH NOVEMBER 16, 2011 Infographic: LinkedIn Bootcamp: Basic Training For The Personal Marketer LinkedIn is the proverbial dark horse of social media: we all know it’s there, but few of us use it to its full potential. Though, social media tools like Facebook , Twitter and Linkedin can make yourself (resume) more visible and attractive to job hunters out there, and increasingly they are using such tools to discover the real (virtual) you.
