Where's a blog from Saba, SumTotal? If you look on my link roll, there's one from Articulate, elgg, ummm. I'm already running out.

Oh, did I mention that the author comes from Saba ? While I work a lot with LMS products (including Saba) and believe that they are really great for may things, I also find that they can easily become a barrier. A good company, but an obvious bias. Now here's the reality.

On Creating Passionate Users they had a great picture that captures how many of us feel about LMS products: As the number of features increases our satisfaction level begins to go down because of the complexity of getting it to work for us. There are definitely some low-end LMS products that are easy to get up and going.

Most of the time (as is the case with Oracle) these are different products. I know the folks from CornerStone and their product does some really interesting things. As these systems catch up, this will make the market really hard for Saba and SumTotal. However, when you get low counts, the numbers are highly suspect.
