I’ve written previously about how I’ve been toying around with the augmented reality app Aurasma. In their excitement to scan the image, they did so immediately after installing the app – but of course without the link, the app had nothing to connect the image to my augmentation. Bang, it worked for her first go.

Many schools have toyed with the idea of using AR applications to support learning, such as when a student scans a page of his homework, a video of his teacher explaining a related concept pops up, or book reviews in the form of videoattached to scan-able book barcodes. With apps like Aurasma , learning is coming to life.

The FDA approved Opensight, a Microsoft AR-enhanced medical imaging product , which allows clinicians to overlay scans onto the patient and interact with the data in 3D. VR headsets and AR glasses remain toys. Unlike VR, AR has already begun to change the daily practice of some professions. In the future, they’ll need tools for AR/VR.

Some people, including myself, had an e-mail with a bar code you could scan at the badge booth pick up. I will say they gave me three of the carrot doll/toy like things for my dogs. The map was difficult to see and I still don’t understand why they do not include geolocation with it. Bar code blues. I can attest to that.
