CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. CBT was the “new” and exciting way to learn. Could someone create a course at said company? WBT (Web-Based Training). Blackboard.

I am constantly updating the types that exist, which would be covered under learning systems. LMS – Learning Management System – Don’t buy into the spin they were created or are still mainly used for compliance – both are not true. Here they are (as of May 2022).

It is a constant evolution of customization, plugins, coding language, etc. While many companies see this as a non issue, remember that for many of these companies they exist in the Fortune 500 or Global 2000. Sure, they can spin it as a LMS or a collaborative experience (under the guise of social learning). Dragon Alert!

Back in the early 2000′s, LMSs often had content mgt features built within their system, but called themselves learning management systems. e-book publishing and development – 60%. Podcasting – creating your own – 57.1%. Salesforce.com or customer mgt system integration – 17.1%.

Web conferencing or chat rooms – I know it might come as a shock but WebEx was alive and in full mode in 2000 and so was Centra – remember them? E-Commerce. Customized skinning – albeit in today’s market there are some vendors who charge for skins – disgusting! Talent and performance mgt.

Comes with App store and gadget store , where you can download and install into your product – the apps are like objects created by them and others, and gadgets are widget like things – them and end users; oh the majority are free, but if as an end user created one and wanted to sell it – you could.

Label Manipulation (on the front end, created by admin) – A nice to have (but becoming common). Training & Customer Support. The Wizard pops-up and with a few simple clicks by the administrator on what they want, it is created. I do not blame GeoLearning on the current clients perspective, because many vendors do this.
