GeoLearning’s GeoMaestro is a LMS that packs a wallop but at the same time has some features that provide limitations. Additional cost for Training/Support – package based (Common in the industry, but enough already). Social Learning add on module – Not a lot for what you get at an additional cost.

Geolearning. When GeoLearning changed to Express, I was fortunate to stay with the more advanced one – and still received updates.  Sadly, one day I called, they were out of business, sold to the nefarious NetG – who likely placed them in a huge warehouse next to the remains of a famous pharaoh. Old-school LMS companies (like SumTotal , Plateau , Learn.com , GeoLearning and Certpoint ) were acquired by much larger talent and HR-suite providers like SAP/SuccessFactors , Infor , Oracle and IBM. The old-guard talent management LMS remained steadfast and stubborn – clinging to critical flaws: Astronomical licensing and setup costs.

What anyone should be doing is Impact of Learning which makes L&D and Training into a business partner. ROI sounds good, it is widely used, but it doesn’t make you into a business partner. And in 2002, many more – I used Geolearning – it offered lots of informal options. Does it cost a lot?

On the Maestro side (formally GeoLearning), I don’t understand how they could have dropped the ball on the platform. Here is my list (both from a business and system standpoint). The argument of course is that “support and service” costs money. Seat costs are one of the hidden secrets in the industry.

Consumers expect a one business day response. Hiring someone who offers business intelligence services. all the vendor would need to do to resolve this issue, is list under the pricing that the pricing does not include this or that blah blah is an additional cost.
