Im guessing youre designing online distance learning courses. Classes for college credit that are taught online. Im in the weird place of for-profit education, which really has characteristics of both market sectors. If "distance learning" means instructor-led online courses to you though, then yes, thats what Im doing.

When I was in trade school a few years ago, all of us student were brought through a three-day class session on learning styles. We used a different approach: The Playground Theory of Learning developed by Shelly Loewen. Ive been looking into the learning styles theory a bit the last few days, after having a humble learning moment.

Im curious what other folks experiences has been. I have also worked with individuals that do have ID degrees, and found found gaps in technical knowledge, but not in their theory. Im so happy to see you post this up. Im struggling with this right now. When my contract is up at the college Im highly unlikely to re-sign.

But not only is it the way they can express themselves (non-verbally and verbally) and communicate outward, but being able to "read" their class and have a sense of whos paying attention. I’ve had some interesting shocks from the people in the class; one person in the class was 32 but looked and sounded like she was 23.

Cammy: Although I like to think Im good-humored, I am leery of "humor" or "fun" (scare quotes are deliberate) injected into training like salt water into a frozen turkey. Im glad youre on board with my ducks! I would enjoy a class that involved rubber ducks! Im particularly thrilled with using scenarios (naturally :).

Theres a lot of things I still need to figure out with SL if Im really going to get into it, but I think there are some things that its just fine not to master. They are thinking of potential uses, including biology and chemistry classes. Imagine an 8th grade class exploring the village while reading Romeo & Juliet.
